How do Android App Permissions Work?

How do Android App Permissions Work?

Hey guys! Today we are going to check out Android permissions, what they are and how they work. Every time you download an app, before the download starts you are presented with a list of App permissions that you should read or not, as many of us do. Even more people do not understand what these permissions mean and avoid downloading the app altogether.

"more people do not understand what these permissions mean and avoid downloading the app altogether."

App Developers are required to provide their app permissions in detail, so if you tap on each permission you get a specified explanation of what each thing does. If everything is explained then what is the issue you may ask, well when it comes to permissions and apps you must give attention to combinations of different permissions and the credibility of the developer. Our mobile devices contain valuable data, from contacts to personal photos and videos that no one would like to lose or see exposed.

When you are about to download an app and you start reading the permissions try to combine each permission with an app function. For example if you are downloading a caller id app it needs to read "phone status and identity" or an SMS app needs to read SMS messages. However be aware of irrelevant permissions and suspicious combinations, similar to read your storage and internet access. The bottom line here is stay away from an app that is from unknown developers, asks for unexplainable permissions and you do not understand why those permissions are required.

Last but not least, if your device is rooted think twice or three times before granting superuser permissions to an app that asks for no reason. Do some research first on the specific app, see if it is trustworthy and then decide if it is safe or not. There is no reason to panic each time you see a lot of permissions, just research and decide whether you install the app or not.
